Many of these groups have general meetings and interest groups which encourage members to learn about their new city, its culture, activities, lifestyle, and to develop friendships by sharing interests and hobbies with each other. Some of the different groups in the directory include Newcomers Club , New Neighbors, Welcome Friends, Friends & Families, Welcome Wagon Club, MOMS Club, Mothers and More, Dad-to-Dad, and more. | The MOMS Club (Moms Offering Moms Support) is an international non-profit organization with over 75,000 members and 1,500 chapters. The organization helps at home mothers and their children by providing them a way to meet, play and learn together. Due to the overwhelming response of Gainesville mothers the club has recently split into two chapters: North Gainesville and South Gainesville. | Southside Newcomers have enjoyed an interesting and fun year. Members were excited about programs such as day trips, presentations by the Jacksonville Historical Society, the St. Johns River Keeper, the Jacksonville Times Union columnist, Ron Littlepage to name a few. We are now busy planning a new year 2007-2008. Activities will include Beading, Canasta, Bridge, Bunco, a Book Club, Wine Tasting, Quilting, Knitting and other crafts. Members always enjoy the eclectic and varied cuisine of the First Coast at monthly lunches as well as other informal luncheons and dinners out. Having fun, making friends and getting to know our community is what makes Newcomers a valuable resource to people new in town.
